It's the battle for the Wheat Belt.
The Saskatchewan Huskies and Regina Rams will do battle for the first-time in a long-time on Saturday afternoon in a battle of top-ten ranked programs.
The Huskies are back at Griffiths for the second-time in as many weeks in the contest against the Rams, following their 54-27 win last week over the Alberta Golden Bears.
It was a statement game in week-three for the green-and-white. The Huskies dominated in their home opener, picking up a 27-point win and now sit alone in second-place in the Canada West with a 1-2 record.
The win was convincing enough to vault Saskatchewan up the national rankings. They enter the matchup at number-six in the country, with Regina positioned at number-ten, despite their one-point defeat last weekend.
Saskatchewan appears to be rounding into form. They were dominant through the air and in the ground-game in week-three. They could be trouble for a Regina team that fell in week-three, losing 31-30 in overtime to the UBC Thunderbirds at Mosaic Stadium.
It was a crushing defeat for a Regina program that led 23-0 at the 13:08 mark of the fourth quarter, before the visitors came all the way back thanks to Garrett Rooker who engineered the comeback for the visitors to pick up their first win of the season.
The contest concluded a wild week-three in the Canada West, which seen the Calgary Dinos fall to the Manitoba Bisons, who completed a fourth-quarter comeback of their own after trailing by 15 points entering the final 15 minutes of the ball game, before recording a 28-20 victory.
The Bisons (3-0) now sit in first-place in the conference, while the Huskies (2-1) are trailing by a quartet of teams who stand with 1-1 records in the Golden Bears, Dinos, Rams and Thunderbirds.
Saskatchewan will be hoping to close ground on Manitoba this weekend ahead of their week-five matchup in Winnipeg, which looms large as the conference's top dogs jostle for playoff positioning.
