SASKATOON –
Carson Stadnyk scored twice for the second time in as many nights, as he helped the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's hockey team record the series sweep with an 8-3 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The Huskies, who started the season only one point in their first four games, improved their record to 2-3-1 with the win.
"We've been trying to get better every week and that's what we've done. I thought we were pretty good last night, and our first 40 minutes tonight were pretty one-sided too. It's a long year and we have a long way to go, but we got some pucks in the net and we haven't been able to do that in a while," said Huskies head coach

Stadnyk, who leads the Huskies with four goals this season, found twine twice, and added in an assist. Rookie defenceman
Jeff Faith recorded his first career U SPORTS goal, while fellow blueliner
Gordie Ballhorn scored his second of the season.
Carter Folk,
Layne Young and
Wyatt Johnson each picked up a goal and an assist, while
Evan Fiala,
Jared Dmytriw,
Collin Shirley and
Levi Cable also chipped in assists.

Taran Kozun turned aside 19 of 22 shots in the contest to pick up the win.
Meanwhile, Lethbridge, who entered the weekend with the best start to a Canada West season since 2002-03, fell to 3-3 on the year with the 8-3 loss.
Mackenzie Mindus and Taylor Fisher each picked up their first goals of the 2019-20 campaign for the Pronghorns, while Brooks Maxwell also found the back of the net in the loss. Torrin White was the lone member of the visitors to record a two-point night with his two-assist performance, while Owen Guenter, Danny Gatenby and Landon Gross also chipped in helpers.
After entering in relief on Friday night, the Pronghorns went with Nikolas Amundrud between the pipes, but the first-year netminder was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 15 shots. Taz Burman stepped in the cage to replace Amundrud and the Vancouver, B.C. native recorded 20 saves on 24 shots on net.
Saskatchewan who took control of the game with four unanswered goals, taking a 5-1 lead into the second intermission. After Lethbridge trimmed the deficit to 6-3 in the third, the home side made matters worse for the visitors with two markers in the late going of the final frame.
The Huskies will continue their four-game homestand next weekend when the Calgary Dinos make the trek to Merlis Belsher Place. Meanwhile, the Pronghorns will return home to take on the defending conference champion Alberta Golden Bears at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
