SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's hockey team will continue their home stand as they take on the Mount Royal Cougars for the first time this season this upcoming weekend.

The Huskies have gotten off to a tremendous start to the season, as the team has won seven of their opening ten games and will enter the matchup against the Cougars as the eighth-ranked team in the nation.

Saskatchewan is fresh off a two-game home series against the UBC Thunderbirds, which saw both games need overtime to decide the contest. The Huskies opened the series on Friday night with a 4-3 victory, before the Thunderbirds got their redemption on Saturday night with a 2-1 win.

Mount Royal will come to Saskatoon eyeing to build upon their victory last Saturday night against the Calgary Dinos, which moved the club 3-6-1 on the season and into a tie with the Lethbridge Pronghorns for sixth place in the Canada West.

The Huskies won three of their four games against the Cougars last season, with their lone loss happening on home ice.

5 Things

The Cougars will be looking to make the postseason for the third consecutive season, and they are fresh off a 2-1 victory over their rival Calgary Dinos last Saturday night and will hope the win will provide momentum coming for their upcoming road trip to Saskatoon. Butz three points places her in second in the Canada West in points from rookie defenseman.
