Huskie Athlete of the Week (Jan 21, 2020):
Jessica Vance was perfect on the weekend, stopping all 40 shots she faced and making some history in the process.
 
The product of Prince Albert led the Huskies to a sweep of the previously league-leading Dinos, despite Saskatchewan scoring just one regulation goal, they were able to pick up back-to-back wins thanks to the heroics of Vance.
 
On Friday night the kinesiology major made 19 saves in regulation before standing on her head in the extra frames. Vance made multiple sprawling stops in overtime, including sliding across her crease to stack the pads and deny the Dinos on a two-on-one break. In the shootout Vance remined perfect, stopping all four shots she faced to earn the win and the shutout.
 
That play continued over to Saturday night where the 2017-18 Canada West women’s hockey player of the year stopped all 17 shots she faced to wrap up a weekend sweep for Saskatchewan.
 
With the shutouts Vance, who already leads the Huskies in career shutouts moved into sole possession of second in Canada West history with 20 clean sheets.

Huskie Athlete of the Week (Nov 19, 2019):
It was a historic weekend fourth-year goaltender Jessica Vance as the product of Prince Albert further etched her name in the Canada West history book.

Playing in just one game on the weekend, Vance was perfect, stopping all 14 shots she faced including a sprawling one with just seconds left on the clock to give her a second shutout on the season.

With the shutout the kinesiology major moved into a tie for third in conference history with 17 shutouts in her career.

Next up for Vance and the Huskies is a home-and-home Provincial rivalry showdown with the Regina Cougars.

Huskie Athlete of the Week (Oct 8, 2019):

Fourth-year goalie Jessica Vance had a strong start to her 2019-20 campaign, posting a perfect start to the new season.

Vance, Canada West’s Player of the Year in 2017-18, stopped 22 shots en route to a season-opening shutout to help the Huskies defeat Mount Royal 1-0 on Friday night. The kinesiology student made what may be the save of the season just minutes into the game when she dove from behind the net to rob a Cougars’ forward of the wide-open net.

Saskatchewan returns to Saskatoon this weekend for their first home games of the season against the Alberta Pandas (Oct. 11 & 12).


Huskie Athlete of the Week (Jan 21, 2019):

University of Saskatchewan goalie Jessica Vance was perfect on the weekend, stopping all 42 shots fired her way and climbing up the conference record books in the process.

The third year from Prince Albert, recorded shutouts number five and six on the weekend, helping the Huskies sweep the Lethbridge Pronghorns and moving into fifth in Canada West history with 15 career shutouts.

The Kinesiology student made 23 saves on Friday night as the Huskies won 1-0 in double overtime before making a further 19 stops on Saturday night in a 3-0 win.

Vance and the Huskies are back in action this weekend when they head to Vancouver to take on the UBC Thunderbirds on Jan. 25 & 26.
