SASKATOON – The goals came early and often for a No. 2 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskie men's hockey team that cruised to a 6-1 victory over the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver, B.C. on Friday night.
Â
Levi Cable tallied twice with
Jesse Forsberg,
Carson Stadnyk,
Parker Thomas and
Connor Gay supplying the other goals.
Â
Not content with making 17 saves for his seventh win of the season,
Taran Kozun also twice sent the puck the length of the ice for a tape-to-tape pass to add a pair of assists.
Â
The win moves Saskatchewan to 8-1-0 on the season and marks their seventh consecutive victory. Their last five wins have all been by at least a two-goal margin.
Â
The Huskies scored four goals in the first period to take control of the game early and coasted to the victory from there, out-shooting UBC 46-18 in the process.
Â
Forsberg got the scoring parade started just past the midway mark of the first period with a power play marker.
Â
Newly-named
CW WHL Grad of the month Stadnyk added to the lead with five minutes left to go in the first before Thomas scored just 30 seconds later.
Â
The Huskies weren't down there however, as a stretch-pass from Kozun found Cable in stride and the fourth-year forward made no mistake in scoring his first of two goals on the night.
Â
After a scoreless second period, Cable made the score 5-0 just minutes into the third when he once again got on the end of a long pass from Kozun.
Â
Gay capped off the scoring by adding a marker with 50 seconds remaining on the clock.

These two teams will be back in action tomorrow at 4 pm in Vancouver. That game can be watched live on
