Huskie Athlete of the Week (Nov 9, 2021):
Fifth-year forward Summer Masikewich was a force on the court for the women’s basketball home-opener weekend.
Masikewich and the Huskies completed their weekend sweep of the Regina Cougars, putting them at a 4-0 record.
She tallied a combined 56 points in the doubleheader, including 24 field goals and 23 rebounds, proving to be dominant.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (March 3, 2020):
Canada West First Team All-Star Summer Masikewich came up clutch when her team needed her the most.
Holding just a five-point lead in the latter stages of the fourth quarter and the shot clock at 1, Masikewich attempted her first three-pointer of the year, finding nothing but net and sending the Huskies to a 62-51 victory over the Alberta Pandas.
Scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for yet another double-double, the fourth-year forward from Calgary led the way as Saskatchewan claimed their fourth conference title in the last five years.
With five of those rebounds coming on the offensive end, Masikewich was a force on both ends of the floor for a Huskies squad that will now advance to the U SPORTS Final 8 as the No. 1 seed at the national championship.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (Dec 4, 2019):
Another weekend, another set of outstanding performances for Summer Masikewich as she continues to lead the Huskies to an 8-0 record.
On Friday night Masikewich was on fire from the line, sinking 16 free-throws en route to a 28-point performance that also saw the fourth-year forward pull down 12 boards in a 90-58 win in Kamloops.
The Arts & Science major followed that up by going 8-10 from the field to post 24 points and pull down a further nine rebounds in a 90-38 victory.
The reigning conference defensive player of the year, Masikewich has been a force down low for a Huskies’ defence that has surrendered more than 45 points in a game just twice in their eight Canada West contests.
After the winter break, Masikewich and the Huskies will be back in action for a pair of games against the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley, B.C. on January 3 and 4.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (Nov 28, 2019):
A dominant start to the season for the No. 1 ranked Saskatchewan Huskies continued this past weekend, as they jumped to 6-0 thanks in part to the play of Summer Masikewich.
Scoring 30 points and pulling down 13 rebounds, in wins of 73-59 and 74-45 over the Regina Cougars Masikewich was a big part of the Huskies’ dominance down-low as they outscored their provincial rivals by 38 points in the paint over the two games.
The reigning Canada West defensive player of the year also added a pair of blocks in the contest.
Next up for Masikewich and the Huskies is a trip to Kamloops to take on the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.

University of Saskatchewan forward Summer Masikewich had an outstanding performance to lead her team to a Canada West title this past weekend.
In a tight defensive battle against the Regina Cougars, the third year from Calgary, AB recorded 18 points, 14 rebounds and blocked three shots to lead the Huskies to their third Canada West womne's basketball title in the last four years.
Next up for Masikewich and the Huskies is their sixth-consecutive trip to the U SPORTS Final 8 where they will enter the tournament in Toronto as the No. 3 seed.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (March 12, 2018):
University of Saskatchewan forward Summer Masikewich helped the Huskies to a silver medal at the U SPORTS Final 8 tallying 51 points and 32 rebounds in the three games at the tournament.
The Arts & Science student from Calgary tallied a double-double in Thursday’s 72-67 win over the Acadia Axewomen in the quarter-final. She added seven points and six rebounds in the 74-71 semifinal win over the Regina Cougars and another 19 points and 12 rebounds in the 69-48 loss to the Carleton Ravens in the final.
Masikewich was named Player of the Game for the Huskies in both the quarter-final and final. She was also named a tournament all-star.
This was Saskatchewan’s fifth straight trip to the national championship and second time in the tournament final in three years.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (February 19, 2018):
University of Saskatchewan forward Summer Masikewich helped the Huskies to a quarter-final series win over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen with 47 points and 23 rebounds in the three games.
The Arts & Science student from Calgary tallied a double-double in Thursday''s 76-58 win in Game 1 recording 19 points and 12 rebounds. She added 11 points and five rebounds in a 93-85 Game 2 loss, before scoring 17 points and six rebounds in Game 3''s 97-64 win.
Masikewich and the reigning Canada West champion Huskies host the Trinity Western Spartans in a best-of-three semifinal series beginning February 22 at the PAC.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (October 30, 2017):
University of Saskatchewan forward Summer Masikewich helped the Huskies to a perfect record to open the Canada West women’s basketball season recording 45 points and 19 rebounds.
The Arts & Science student from Calgary tallied a double-double in Friday’s 83-52 win to open the season recording 18 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes. A night later in a 101-56 win, the second year added another 27 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in her 22 minutes.
Masikewich and the reigning Canada West champion Huskies return to the court November 10-11 at home against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
