Jamie Campbell

Jamie Campbell was named the 10th head coach in the history of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Men’s Basketball program on June 29, 2022. A native of Waterloo, Ontario, Campbell brought a wealth of coaching, player development, and high-performance basketball experience to Saskatoon, having worked across the university, professional, provincial, and national levels of the Canadian game.

Prior to taking the reins of the Huskies, Campbell served as Technical Director of Ontario Basketball, one of Canada’s largest basketball organizations. Prior to his time with the provincial sport organization, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Carleton Ravens from 2018 to 2021, helping the program to back-to-back conference and U SPORTS national championships in 2019 and 2020. During the same period, he also worked in the professional ranks as an assistant coach with the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s (CEBL) Ottawa BlackJacks.

Campbell’s coaching resume also includes six seasons as an assistant coach with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks from 2012 to 2018, along with extensive experience at the provincial and national sport organization level through roles with Team Ontario and Canada’s Junior Basketball Academy. In 2026, he continued to add to his professional coaching experience when he joined the CEBL’s Saskatoon Mamba as an assistant coach.

Since arriving at USask, Campbell has compiled a 26-54 record and in 2023-24 guided the team to its first winning record under his tenure at 11-9, securing a return to the Canada West playoffs.

As a student-athlete, Campbell competed in U SPORTS basketball at two institutions. He appeared in 20 games for the Laurier Golden Hawks during the 2004-05 season, averaging 8.4 points per game. He later joined the Laurentian Voyageurs in 2009-10, where he averaged 15.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game across 12 appearances.

Basketball has long been a family tradition for Campbell. He is the son of longtime Ontario University Athletics coach Peter Campbell, who spent 31 years as head coach of the Laurentian Voyageurs and Laurier Golden Hawks and was recognized as the CIAU Coach of the Year in 1996-97. His stepbrother John Campbell has also led a successful career in U SPORTS leading the Dalhousie Tigers for 11 seasons before joining the UofT Varsity Blues program in 2013-14.
