Hailee Woodhouse Breaks 45-Year-Old Canadian U20 Record at Knights of Columbus Games

SASKATOON, Sask. – Rookie Hailee Woodhouse stole the spotlight at the 2026 Knights of Columbus Games this past weekend at the Saskatoon Field House. In just the third competition of her Huskie career the first-year student-athlete from Dilke, Saskatchewan won two invitational events, with one win coming in record-breaking fashion.

RESULTS

Friday night (Jan. 23) was the highlight of the weekend for Woodhouse, with her first win coming in the 300m invitational. She crossed the finish line with a time of 37.92 seconds, nearly a second faster than the field, to claim first place. Her remarkable performance broke the Canadian U20 national record of 37.97 which had stood for 45 years after being set by Olympian Angela Bailey in 1981.

Bailey, who stills holds multiple Canadian records, also set the previous record in Saskatoon.

Woodhouse's time was also the second-fastest ever recorded in Huskie program history, coming within three hundredths of a second of Paige Williem's 2024 time of 37.89.

Less than 24 hours later, she was back in pole position, this time in the 400m invitational with a time of 55.07 seconds. In another incredible run, she crossed the finish line with a gap of nearly seven tenths of a second to the second-place athlete.

At the conclusion of the games, Woodhouse was recognized as an award winner and named the Saskatchewan Athlete of the Meet alongside two-time World Indoor Champion Sarah Mitton who was named the Canadian and Invitational Athlete of the Meet.

In other Huskie action, Wyatt Behiel made his way into the program record books after recording the ninth furthest weight throw toss at 16.16m.

Next week, the Huskie track & field teams head back on the road and will travel to Winnipeg, and the site of the 2026 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships, for the Jim Daly Bison Classic.

Just two meets remain on the regular season schedule for the Huskies as the calendar leads to the 2026 Canada West Championships at the Saskatoon Field House on February 20 & 21.
