EDMONTON, Alta. - Wednesday morning (June 25), Athletics Alberta announced the roster of athletes who are set to represent their province at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John's, Newfoundland. A trio of current, future, and former Huskies in
Jenica Swartz, Alyssa Mathieson, and Gracie (Anderson) Fletcher where among those selected to represent their home province later this summer.
Following last week's Team Saskatchewan athletics announcement, the total athletes at the 2025 Canada Summer Games with connections to the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Huskie Track & Field team now climbs to 34.Â

Jenica Swartz heads to St. John's as the lone current student-athlete on the Huskie Track & Field team, with the product of Lacombe, Alberta set to compete in the 800m and 1500m. Swartz is coming off of one of the strongest seasons of her green & white career after claiming a pair of gold medals at the 2025 U SPORTS Championships in the 1000m and as a member of the 4x800m relay team. Taking the 1000m by two tenths at nationals, she claimed the first U SPORTS medal of her career in an individual event.Â
Incoming 2025-26 recruit Alyssa Mathieson will help represent the future of Huskie Tack & Field, with the Red Deer Titans Track & Field Club member set to compete in high jump. Mathieson is one of five incoming recruits to compete in the 2025 Canada Summer Games, joining four members of Team Saskatchewan.Â
Finally, USask alumna Gracie Fletcher rounds out the Huskie Track & Field connections on Team Alberta. Fletcher, who last competed for the Huskies in 2021-22, was a two-time U SPORTS All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star during her career in green & white and still holds the program's 60m record with a time of 7.43 seconds. The product of Paradise Valley, Alberta will compete in the relays later this summer.Â
