Huskies on Team Canada
For fourth-year student-athletes
Hannah Hagerty and
Paige Willems, they join Team Canada coming off an impressive 2024-25 season. The pair helped the Huskies to a record 7th consecutive Canada West Championship before capturing team bronze at the 2025 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships in Windsor. Despite competing in different events individually, Hagerty and Willems were both members of the Huskie 4x200m relay team which earned Canada West gold and U SPORTS silver.
Individually, both Hagerty and Willems have seen plenty of success during their careers in green & white. For Hagerty, a former member of the Regina Cougars, she has earned conference First Team All-Star status twice while with the Huskies in addition to a Second Team All-Canadian nod. Meanwhile, Willems is one of the more decorated student-athletes currently in the program with an impressive eight First Team All-Star selections and two Second Team selections. On the national stage she has captured one First Team All-Canadian nod and earned Second Team status five times.
In addition to competing in their assigned individual events, both Hagerty and Willems are also members of two relay pools for the canucks. Hagerty is a member of the 4x100m relay pool while Willems appears in the 4x400m relay pool.
Jake Neufeld also heads to Germany with Team Canada as the lone member of the Huskie Men's Track & Field team. Neufeld, who just completed his final season of eligibility in green & white, is a two-time Canada West First-Team All-Star and recently took home Huskie Athletic's Rusty MacDonald Cup as the 2024-25 upper year student-athlete who during his career as a Huskie exhibited the highest qualities of sportsmanship and citizenship. In addition to his athletic accolades, Neufeld is a two-time conference Community Service Award Winner and has once been recognized nationally for his work away from the track. The local Saskatoon product will compete in the decathlon at the FISU Summer Games.
Joining the trio of student-athletes is Huskie Track & Field and Cross Country head coach
Jason Reindl, who will serve as an assistant coach specializing in sprints and hurdles. Reindl will add the 2025 FISU Summer Games to a long list of international coaching roles which includes positions with Team Canada at the 2017 World University Games, the 2019 U20 Pan American Games, the 2021 & 2022 U20 World Championships, and the 2024 Paris Olympics among others.
The 2025 FISU Summer World University Games are set to kickoff on July 16 with athletics beginning midway through the games on July 21 and running through the final day on July 27, 2025.
