2025 Huskie Football Spring Camp Preview

SASKATOON, Sask. - The 2025 football calender officially kicks off Thursday (May 1) at the University of Saskatchewan as the Huskie Football team returns to the field at Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park for the latest edition of Spring Camp. 22 soon-to-be freshmen will take the field for the first time, joining forces with returning student-athletes for a trio of practices before the weekend culminates in the Green & White.

"This year's recruiting class really highlights the strength of our local talent and speaks volumes about the quality of players coming out of the city and province," said Huskies head coach Scott Flory. "The group brings a lot of promise, and we're excited to see how they blend with our returning student-athletes and veterans. We can't wait to get everyone back on the field and kick off the 2025 season."

The latest group of incoming rookies features 16 athletes from the province of Saskatchewan, including 12 local products from Saskatoon. Of the teams to develop future Huskies, the Holy Cross Crusaders are responsible for five, the most of any high school or previous team. A pair of players also join the Dogs from the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL), with the pair set to trade in SMF Field for Griffiths Stadium after suiting up for the Saskatoon Hilltops. Finally, of the six recruits coming from out of province, four call Alberta home with British Columbia and Manitoba each featuring one USask recruit.

New Recruits to Watch

DEFENCE

Aiden Low (DB - Martensville, SK): "A smart, athletic defensive back who played for Team Sask in the Canada Cup, Aidan is already physically ahead of the curve for his age and should find the roster early."
Carlos Teklu (LB - Winnipeg, MB): "Carlos has a real feel for the game as a physical, instinctual player. His development is at a stage where he should be a player who is on the roster early."

OFFENCE
Bernard Leslie (OL - Abbotsford, BC): "A long, athletic lineman with a great frame at 6-foot-7, Bernard has a high ceiling. A really intelligent player too, we see him developing into a strong tackle for us once he ads some size."
Aulain Penner (RB - Saskatoon, SK): "Aulain is an elite talent at running back. He's shifty, elusive, and incredibly smart which should add another dynamic element to the offence."
Liam Piccinin (REC - Edmonton, AB): "Liam is like a Daniel Wiebe clone, a great route runner and a natural catcher who has fantastic speed. We think he has a bright future ahead of him in our offence."
