LANGLEY, B.C. – With play-off positioning already established the No. 7 Saskatchewan Huskies earned a weekend split with the No. 8 Trinity Western Spartans thanks to a 3-0 win Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. The 25-22, 30-28, 25-17 loss drops the Spartans to 12-8, while the Huskies improve to 14-6 with the win.
Isaiah Mamer with 13 kills, three digs, and one block, and
Emmett Graham with 13 kills, eight digs, and one block led the Huskies. For the Spartans Devin Hofsink led with eight kills, and six blocks, along with fourth-year middle Jackson Corneil with five kills, second-year outside Piers De Greeff with five kills, rookie outside Zach Hofer with five kills, four digs, and one ace, and third-year outside with five kills, and three digs.
TWU rookie setter Willem Van Huizen finished with 20 set assists running the Spartans attack. While
Noah Opseth finished with 36 assists for the Huskies.
The Spartans and Huskies will battle again in two weeks in the Canada West Quarterfinals when TWU travels to Saskatoon, SK, to play the Huskies in a best-of-three series.
