LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - The University of Saskatchewan Wrestling team secured another meet sweep this past weekend, taking the top spot on both the men's and women's side at the Lethbridge Invitational Saturday (Dec. 6). The result sees the Huskies head into the Christmas break coming off wins in consecutive weekends after sweeping the Huskie Open a week ago.

The Huskie men, who remain perfect this season with wins in the Dino Open, Huskie Open, and now Pronghorn Invitational, were led by Owen McGillivray in Alberta. The fourth-year business student dominated the 125kg weight class on Saturday, securing two wins by pin and one by technical superiority without allowing a single point against. His performance came after commanding performance Friday night in the Pronghorn Duals, where he earned his first win of the weekend by pin.

Nathan Kowal (68kg), Takis Sembalerus (72kg), and Matthew Yong (100kg) also earned first-place finishes in the invitational while Ashton Bodnarchuk (2nd, 65kg), Jared Steinley (2nd, 82kg), and Aiden Mitchell Riley (2nd, 90kg) rounded out the Saskatchewan podium finishes.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Chapman highlighted the meet for the Huskies. The rookie out of Holy Cross High School also dominated her respective weight class (50kg), winning three matches by pin and failing to allow a point against. Similarly to McGillivray, Chapman also earned a victory by pin the evening prior in the Pronghorn Duals.

Abby Wolff (56kg) and Myah Phillips (83kg) were the only other Huskies to secure first-place finishes while Lexa Barous (2nd, 53kg), Caitlin Clatney (2nd, 59kg), Myah Clatney (3rd, 65kg), Taebyn Tulp (3rd, 68kg), and Adia-Lyn Jones (2nd, 72kg) all earned podium positions.

The Huskies now head to the Christmas break before returning to action Jan. 16 and 17 for the Golden Bear Duals and Open.
