The Huskie women's basketball team is riding a twelve-game win streak, following an 84-47 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday night on the Ron and Jane Graham Centre Court. Ella Murphy-Wiebe led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds and went 8 for 10 from the field.
Gage Grassick poured in 18, while veteran
Andrea Dodig had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals.
Courtney McKee led the way for the Pronghorns with 15 points. Lethbridge only trailed 15-12 after the first quarter and 46-33 at the half. However, the Huskies took control as the game went on turning 28 turnovers into 28 points.
Saskatchewan outscored Lethbridge 48-20 in the paint and turned 16 rebounds into 22 points.
The Huskies raised over $7000 for the 18
th annual Shoot for the Cure campaign for breast cancer research. The fundraising and awareness campaign is an initiative all U SPORTS women's basketball programs have contributed to throughout the years, and this year the total donations are expected to surpass $2M.
The 12 and 2 Huskies visit the MacEwan Griffins on the January 31
st-February 1
st weekend, while the Pronghorns, now 6 and 8, host the Victoria Vikes.
