Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Calgary Dinos

Dinos Hand Huskies First Loss of the Season

CALGARY, Alta. — The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team claimed a crucial 1-0 win in a hard-fought match against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Sunday afternoon at Dinosaur Field.

With the win, the Dinos move to 5-1 through the first three weeks of the season, solidifying their place atop the standings in the Prairie Division. The loss is the first of the season for Saskatchewan, falling to 4-1-1 and a tie for second place in the standings.

The game started with high drama just minutes in, as the Huskies were awarded an early penalty. Dinos goalkeeper Anna Demarbre rose to the occasion with a massive save, denying the Huskies an early lead and setting the tone for Calgary's strong defensive showing throughout the game.

Both teams battled for control in the midfield, with Calgary's defense anchored by Julia Kittelson holding firm against the Huskies' attacks. The Dinos' midfielders, led by
standout performances from Isabella DiPalma and Isabella Burtini, continuously pressured Saskatchewan, preventing them from finding a rhythm.

The breakthrough came when DiPalma slotted the ball into the net after a perfectly placed assist from Burtini, giving the Dinos a lead in the 32nd minute.

As the game wore on, Calgary's defense remained resolute, fending off the Huskies' late attempts to level the score. The Dinos' resilience and tactical discipline secured the win.
