OTTAWA, ON - Twenty-five coaches from across the country were announced on Monday (June 10) by the Canada Games Council as selections for the 2025 Women in Coaching Canada Games Apprenticeship program. Among those selected was current Huskie Track & Field assistant coach Taylor McGregor.
With 2025 serving as the inaugural year of the program, the Canada Games Council stats that the program provides the opportunity to build coaching capacity and a mulit-sport experience for future Canada Games. "Selected coaches will be actively involved in provincial/territorial training camps, selection camps, and preparation competitions, they will come together to participate in a series of professional development opportunities before gaining domestic multi-sport games experience at the 2025 Canada Games in Newfoundland and Labrador
The 2024-25 season will mark the fourth season McGregor has served on the Huskie coaching staff and her 10th year at USask. A former tack & field athlete with the Huskies and part of the 2018 and 2019 Canad West Championships teams, the local product out of Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon graduated in 2019 with a Bachelors in Education.
Ahead of the 2021-22 season McGregor returned to the Huskies as an assistant coach focusing on pole vault. She became the second member of her family to be featured on a USask coaching staff with her father, Brian McGregor serving as an assistant coach with the Huskie women's hockey team.
McGregor will join a familiar face as part of the Team Saskatchewan coaching staff in fellow Huskie assistant coach Jamie Epp, who also serves as the USask lead endurance coach. For the 2025 Canada Games Epp will lead the provincial team as Head Coach.
The 2025 Canada Games is set to take place from August 8-25, with St. Johns, Newfoundland serving as hosts.
