SASKATOON, Sask. - The University of Saskatchewan Huskie women's basketball team showcased their depth Saturday night (Nov. 9) on the Ron & Jane Centre Court at the Physical Activity Complex, with every dressing student-athlete getting on the scoresheet. The impressive team effort helped the Huskies to an 88-47 victory over the Manitoba Bisons, wrapping up a sweep of the weekend series with the Herd and getting back to .500 on the season with a 2-2 record. Meanwhile, the Bisons fall to 1-2 through the opening two weeks of the Canada West regular season.
A Saskatchewan trio of starters surpassed the double-digit point mark in the win Saturday in Téa DeMong (14),
Gage Grassick (14), and
Logan Reider (13), while
Anna Maelde added 11 off the bench. For the visiting Bisons Anna Miko and Darya Rom recorded 14 and 12 points respectively to lead the Herd.Â
The Huskies wasted no time jumping out to an early lead, opening the game with a 12-0 run before building a 27-6 lead at the end of the opening quarter. The Bisons would respond with a strong effort in the second but were still outscored 19-13 to enter the half trailing 46-19.
With both benches seeing plenty of action in the second half, a 23-11 third frame would lead Manitoba's best quarter of evening in the final period, totaling 17 points.Â
By the end of the 40 minutes of action, Manitoba's bench totaled 40 points while the Huskies received 32 from non-starters.Â
It was an impressive night all-round from the Dogs, who shot 49% from the field while dominating in the paint with 50 points.Â

The Huskies return to the Ron & Jane Centre Court next weekend for a pair of games against the Alberta Pandas in a matchup of top teams in the conference's Prairie Division.The Bisons will also return home next weekend, hosting the Regina Cougars.Â
