Dinos Sweep Huskies in Season-Opening Series

CALGARY, Alta. – Saturday at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium, the Calgary Dinos cruised to a 99-49 victory over the Saskatchewan Huskies. Shooting over 50-percent from the floor in all four quarters, Calgary showcased its depth of talent in the decisive home victory.

Nate Petrone opened the game with four straight makes from distance as part of the Dinos barrage. Calgary finished the game +36 from 3pt range, highlighted by Dylan Lutes shooting a perfect 5-5 from beyond the arc. Saskatchewan couldn't keep pace with the high-flying Dinos, shooting under 30-percent from the field and 20-percent from 3-point range.

The flow of the game allowed both teams to provide extended minutes to their second units, with the Dinos bench playing the entire fourth quarter. The new-look Huskies featured 12 players on the evening, with first-year guard Mohamed Jabateh leading the way with nine points and four rebounds.

Not to be outdone, Calgary's bench tallied 43 points, accounting for nearly half of the team's total. Daniels Baumanis knocked down a trio of three pointers in the closing quarter, with the Dinos starters cheering louder with each subsequent make.

Following the sweep, Saskatchewan returns home to welcome the Manitoba Bisons.
