SASKATOON, SK – The U Sports number one ranked Saskatchewan Huskies would welcome back the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat to Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court at the Physical Activity Complex Saturday evening for game two of the weekend series. After a close first quarter, it looked to be anyone's game, but the Huskies found their rhythm and reminded everyone why they remain undefeated, closing out the game with a 40-point lead and extinguishing the Heat 88-48.
THE HIGHLIGHTS

Both teams came to play, the Heat once again proving they could keep pace with the undefeated Huskies. The first quarter would be a close one, with UBCO opening the scoring and the largest lead only extending to 6 points (by the Huskies). At the end of the first 10, the score would be within one in favour of Saskatchewan (15-14)

The start of the second quarter would involve the Heat taking over the lead, but this would last less than a minute before the Huskies regained control and switched gears, separating themselves from the Heat and finishing the first half with a 15-point lead (42-27).

Saskatchewan continued to demonstrate a high level of skill and teamwork in the third, extending their lead to a 29-point deficit by the end of the quarter, only allowing the Heat an additional 6 points following the half (62-33). Three Huskie players would reach double-digits after 30 minutes played.

The Huskies took the fourth to continue building their lead. The Heat tried their best to keep the energy high, but they were unable to establish any sort of comeback in the final quarter.
THE STATS

Saskatchewan's Carly Ahlstrom led the point race with 20 points, with four other Huskie players reaching double digits: Courtney Primeau (11), Gage Grassick (13), Andrea Dodig (19), and Maya Flindall (11).

Jaeli Ibbetson would lead the Heat in points with 12.

Gage Grassick (SSK), Andrea Dodig (SSK), and Kelsey Falk (UBCO) would each have 7 rebounds.

Saskatchewan had a field goal average of 47.1%, a 3-point average of 34.8%, and shot 66.7% from the line.UBCO had a field goal average of 28.3%, a 3-point average of 15.4%, and shot 73.7% from the line.
THE STANDINGS
Saskatchewan holds first place in Canada West and U Sports, and UBCO is 10th in Canada West. The Huskies entered the weekend undefeated and would hold onto the title, extending their record to 12-0 this season. The loss would shift UBCO's record to 5-7.
THE EXTRAS
The Huskie women's basketball team joined U Sports teams nationwide to raise funds to support the Canadian Cancer Society. This initiative, dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, has become a staple in the Canadian university sports community, bringing together athletes, coaches, and fans in the fight against breast cancer.
Following the game, Maya Flindall's teammates cut hair to donate to those impacted by cancer treatment after raising $3,000 in donations so far. The Huskies have a set goal of raising $7,000 this season for the Canadian Cancer Society.
