REGINA, SK - After Friday night's 7-2 win over the Regina Cougars in Saskatoon, the Saskatchewan Huskies were looking to capitalize on that momentum in Regina in Saturday night. The Huskies faced a much more disciplined Cougars team, who would send the game into a thrilling shootout that would see the Huskies take the 2-1 win.

Saskatchewan opened up the scoring just three minutes into the game when Jeff Faith took a pass from Carter Stebbings on a 2-on-1 an tallied his first of the season.

The Huskies had a hefty 12-5 advantage in shots in addituion to the 1-0 lead through 20 minutes, but the Cougars tied it up early in the second when Riley Krane won a footrace following a Jake Fletcher clearance and scored his ninth of the year.

Neither team was able to score in the third, or in either of the two overtimes, thanks to some incredible defence on both sides of the puck, sending the game into a shootout.

After both teams scored in the opening round, Liam Keeler kept Saskatchewan alive with a goal in the third round after Jackson Doucet had scored for the Cougars. Two rounds later, Saskatchewan's Vince Loschiavo scored the winner for the Huskies.

STANDINGS
With the playoff season on the horizon, it's critical for teams to play their best hockey of the year. Saturday night's win gives the Huskies a 14-8 record and fifth place in the Canada West standings.
