WHKY: Drever with the Shutout Against the Alberta Pandas

SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatchewan Huskies were back home at Merlis Belsher Place to host the Alberta Pandas after being on the road the previous two weekends. With two first-period goals, the Huskies secured a 2-0 win over the Pandas.  

The Huskies went with Camryn Drever in net, who is yet to record a loss this season and holds the top position in the Canada West Goalie standings. The Pandas would go with Halle Oswald, it being her 7th start of the season and a record of 5-2. 

The first goal came early in the first, with a short tip ahead from Sophie Lalor to Kate Ball, who was able to sneak through the Panda's defence and find the top-shelf, recording her third goal of the season. The goal would later become the game-winner.  

The Huskies struck again in the final two minutes of the first. Defenseman, Kendra Zuchotzki, found the Panda's backdoor with a quick one-timer off a beautiful pass from Paris Oleksyn, extending the Huskies' lead to two. The goal was Zuchotzki's second of the season. 

Shots favoured the Pandas 35-20. Despite the Panda's final push in the third, the comeback remained out of reach for the Pandas.  

Camryn Drever came to play, recording 35 saves and a shutout on the night, earning herself the first star of the game. The other two stars were given to Kendra Zuchotzki and Kate Ball.  

Saskatchewan's win put both teams at a 7-2 record, the Huskies improving from a 6-2 record and the Pandas falling from 6-1.
