WBB: Huskies Remain Undefeated with Win Against Griffins

SASKATOON, SK – After a dominant performance on Friday night that saw the Saskatchewan Huskies crush the MacEwan Griffins 91-27, the Dogs were back in action at the PAC for game two of the weekend series. The Huskies proved to be a dominant team once again, securing an 84-33 win over the Griffins.  
 
Saskatchewan came out hot in the first quarter, showing skill and composure. The first half of the quarter saw MacEwan put up some points, but the second half was all Huskies, as they pushed ahead 31-9. Tea DeMong led scorers in the quarter with eight points, with Unity Obasuyi leading with three for the Griffins.  
 
The Griffins pushed the Huskies in the second quarter, but the veteran team did not let up for one minute. Courtney Primeau put on the offensive pressure, adding seven points in the quarter for the Huskies. MacEwan's Samantha Hickey led the way for the Griffins with four points. Saskatchewan headed into halftime with a commanding 45-16 lead.  
 
A huge three-pointer from DeMong opened the scoring in the second half for the Huskies and would keep the momentum throughout the quarter. The Griffins Ava Regier made an incredible three-pointer with less than four minutes left, but the Huskies proved to be too powerful. After three quarters, Saskatchewan led MacEwan 69-28. 
 
Saskatchewan would remain in control of the game through the fourth quarter, outscoring MacEwan 15-5. Turnovers were a key component of Saturday's game, with the Huskies capitalizing at every opportunity, scoring 42 points off turnovers, compared to MacEwan's seven points.  
 
KEY PERFORMANCES 
Tea DeMong had a great game for the Huskies, with 19 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Carly Ahlstrom added 17 points, and two rebounds in the contest.  
 
MacEwan was led by Unity Obasuyi, with 10 points and five rebounds. Samantha Hickey had six points and five rebounds.
