WINNIPEG, MB - Madison Mayert's first goal of the season came at a perfect time for the Saskatchewan Huskies, who defeated the Manitoba Bisons 2-1 thanks to the forward's goal in the 69
th minute on Sunday afternoon at IG Field.
With the win, the Huskies improved to 10-3-1, good for second place in the Prairie Division. Manitoba fell to 4-9-1, missing the playoffs for just the third time in Vanessa Martinez-Lagunas' time as head coach.
The Bisons opened the scoring in the 19
th. First year Taryn Cabak tapped in a loose ball in the box off a corner for her fourth of the year. The goal came 13 minutes after a disallowed Jessica Tsai tally off a corner. A highly controversial foul call to forward Janelle Chomini on the play negated the goal from counting.
The Huskies leveled the game in the 35
th.
Jade Houmphanh delivered an incredible shot from over 30 yards out on a free kick that Bisons goalie Karina Bagi had no chance on, as it went top corner. Houmphanh has had an incredible season for Saskatchewan, with six goals and three assists in the regular season
The Huskies peppered the Bisons with shots in the second half and were eventually rewarded with Mayert's tally. Sent in on a two-on-one, she tapped in a rebound for the game-winner.

Kalin Roberts had ten saves during the match, with Manitoba's Karina Bagi had eight saves.
