Box Score CALGARY, AB – The Usask Huskies fought hard up to the last minute in a strong defensive battle on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Calgary. Unfortunately, a last-minute goal snuck by the Dinos secured a 2-3 loss for the Huskies.
Jaron Slopinski got the start in net for the Huskies and was able to rack up 6 saves. Down in the other net Jake Rushchkowski started at goal for the Calgary Dinos.
The first half heated up in the 36th minute when the first-year Huskie Sergio Molina sent a ball into the back of the back of the net with an assist from Kuhle Bekwayo.
Saskatoon product Kuhle Bekwayo added to the Huskie lead with a follow up goal assisted by Diego Reveco in the 44th minute. Bekwayo's strong strike goal sent the Huskies into the second half leading 2-0.
Calgary's Joey Plenzik was able to sneak a header shot into the net in the 56th minute putting the Dinos on the board for the first time in the match. William Omoreniye followed up with another goal for the Dinos in the 62ndminute.
The match remained tied up until the last minute of play when Amanuel Petros scored for the Dinos. The final score was 2 for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and 3 for the University of Calgary Dinos.
Huskies are back in action tomorrow at 3:00pm against the Mount Royal Cougars in Calgary Alberta.
