SASKATOON, SK – The USask Huskies opened the weekend by falling 81-96 to the No. 1 ranked Brandon Bobcats.
Starting lineup for the Huskies consisted of Tyrese Potoma,
Alexander Dewar,
Fisayo Moibi,
Kessler Bishop and
Maxwell Amoafo. The Bobcats opened the contest with Jahmal Gardner, Khari Ojeda-Harvey, Anthony Tsegakele, Sultan Haider Bhatti and Jack McDonald.
The first quarter saw a slow start offensively on both sides, but momentum picked for the Bobcats as they took a small lead to carry into the second quarter. 28-25 Bobcats begin the motion and started off Brandon's lead.
The second quarter was filled with back-and-forth action both away with a notable number of steals racked up before the half. Brandon showed their dominance with a 60% three-point percentage to mirror the Huskies 0%.
Ironically, the script flipped in the third as the Huskies held a three-point percentage of 60% and the Bobcats were 0-5 from the same depth.
Alexander Dewar led the charge with ten points for the Dogs, but it was BU who carried their lead at the end of the third quarter; 64-76.
Jahmal Gardener and Anthony Tsegakele took control of the closing quarter offensively – racking up 21 and 19 points respectively on the night. These two along with support from Sultan Haider Bhatti stole the show and lead to the Huskies 81-96 loss to open this weekend series.
Alexander Dewar led Saskatchewan's offence tonight with 19 points. Tyrese Potoma trialed close behind with 18 points.
