WHKY: Huskies Offence Shines in 5-2 Win Over Griffins

SASKATOON, SK – After a bye week and a weekend on the road in Regina, the Saskatchewan Huskies (6-3) were happy to be back on the ice at home, and it showed in a 5-2 win over the MacEwan Griffins (3-7).

It was a strong starting lineup for the Huskies with Kennedy Brown, Kendra Zuchotzki, Isabella Pozzi, Kara Kondrat, and Bronwyn Boucher as the starting five. They were joined by goaltender Colby Wilson who would be in net for the entire game. The Griffins started Rylee Gluska, Makenna Schuttler, Aryn Chambers, Kallie O'Hearn, and Shyla Kirwer, with Brianna Sank in at net.

Saskatchewan would find the net first with Kelsey Hall grabbing her first goal of the season for the Dogs at 6:44 into the first. She would later add her first assist of the season later in the third period. The end of the period would see MacEwan's Rebecca Thiessen with an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1.

The Huskies offence dominated the second period with a true team effort from the Dogs. Kennedy Brown scored her third game of the season with help from Jayde Cadieux and Sarah Kendall at 10:58, with Paris Oleksyn scoring her first of the season with assists from Jessica Patterson and Brooklyn Stevely near the end of the second. Saskatchewan would take the lead 3-1 heading into the third.
