LANGLEY – Trinity Western fell 3-0 to Saskatchewan at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday.
TWU (1-1) was led by Kate Fawcett (Tottenham, Ont.), who stopped 28 of 31 shots she faced. The Huskies (1-1) were led by a 28-save shutout from
Colby Wilson.
Kara Kondrat put Saskatchewan on the board with a goal and an assist as
Emily Holmes and
Bronwyn Boucher scored the remaining two tallies. Kondrat would get the action going on a power play in the second period, reeling in a feed from
Brooklyn Stevely to put it home.
First-year Spartan Ella Boon (Prince George, B.C.) led TWU in shots with five on the night.
Brooklyn Anderson (Shellbrook, Sask.) got her chance to even the score soon after Kondrat's opener, but Wilson stood tall, making her stop on Anderson the most notable of her impressive night.
The Huskies continued their surge in the third period with goals from Boucher and Holmes wrapping up the final score at 3-0.
The Spartans were ranked ninth in the Canada West preseason coaches' poll while Saskatchewan was ranked fourth. USask is now 2-2 all-time against TWU.
The USask Huskies are back at Merlis Belsher Place this Friday to take on the University of Calgary Dinos at 7PM. Tickets available at HuskieTickets.com
