SASKATOON – Huskie home games on January 21 and 22 will be closed to the public, following the direction of the University of Saskatchewan's Pandemic Response and Recovery Team.
Affected games include Friday and Saturday's men's and women's basketball games against Brandon University, and men's hockey games against the University of Alberta.
The announcement aligns with the
university's recent announcement that health and safety measures put in place for Winter Term are being extended to February 7. This temporary revision is seen as a precautionary measure meant to help reduce on-campus transmission due to the increased transmissibility of the Omicron variant.
For season ticket holders no action is required at this time. At the conclusion of the season all ticket refund or credit options will be provided. Additionally, no action is required for individual ticket purchasers at this time. Within 30 days a full refund will be processed via original method of payment used at time of purchase. Please note: if the tickets were received via transfer, the refund will go to the original purchaser.
Media members will also be asked to conduct all interviews, including post-game interviews, virtually at this time.
USask's top priority remains the health and safety of our campus community, our student athletes, coaches, staff, officials, volunteers and fans. While disappointing for all, this decision is following the best advice of public health officials as well as the university's Pandemic Response and Recovery Team.
We will continue to work closely with the university's Pandemic Response and Recovery team to monitor COVID-19, Omicron and other variants, and evaluate this decision on an ongoing basis.
Huskie fans can tune in to watch all games on CanadaWest.tv and listen to hockey games live on HuskieFAN.ca.
We continue to encourage our fans and community to get vaccinated and receive their booster shots as soon as possible. We look forward to welcoming you back to our facilities and cheering on our Huskies soon.
