Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Saskatchewan takes 6-2 win over Cougars

Ty Prefontaine scored a pair of key second-period goals for the University of Saskatchewan as the Huskies won 6-2 on Friday night over the Regina Cougars in a Canada West men's hockey game at The Co-operators Centre.

Saskatchewan took the lead for good with two goals in the span of 51 seconds early in the second, first by Kaluski off a rebound and then by Prefontaine on a shot from a slot following a feed from Holt.

Eskra was awarded a penalty shot shortly after Prefontaine's goal and slipped it just wide, but Chaulk scored a minute later after batting a rebound out of midair to get the Cougars back to within in.

But that would be it offensively for the Cougars. Prefontaine's second goal of the night restored the 4-2 lead, and the Huskies scored a backbreaker just 29 seconds into the third when Ball's shorthanded marker put them up three.

The Huskies put it away midway through the final frame with another shorthanded goal, this time by Folk.

Travis Child made 15 saves in the win for the Huskies, who will be back in action at home next weekend against Trinity Western.

The Cougars are also at home next weekend. They'll play host to Manitoba on Friday and Saturday at The Co-operators Centre.
