BRANDON, Man. – The Saskatchewan Huskies picked up the weekend sweep Saturday night with a 96-32 win over the host Bobcats.
The Bobcats kept it close in the first quarter, then the Huskies started the second on an absolute tear as they went on a 19-0 run.
The Bobcats hit a pair of free-throws with 3:09 left in the second, but that and another free-throw would be the only points the Bobcats would score in the frame.
A monster fourth quarter from the Huskies closed it out, but a Bobcats 3-pointer in the dying seconds sent the fans in attendance home with optimism for what lies ahead.
Summer Masikewich and Libby Epoch both put up 20 points for Saskatchewan, half of Masikewich's coming from the free-throw line (10-11).
Third-year guard Carly Ahlstrom had another solid night for the Huskies, contributing 14 points in the win.
Saskatchewan is back at home next weekend, as they welcome their provincial rival Regina Cougars to town.
The Bobcats will look to re-group before heading out on the road next weekend, this time with another tough test in the #1 pre-season ranked Winnipeg Wesmen.
