SASKATOON – Finishing second as a team in both the men's and women's standings, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies recorded their best finish as program since the Huskie women first starting competing at nationals in 1999.

Along with the team success, the Huskies earned individual accolades at the championship in St. Catharines, Ont. Four Huskies claimed gold while also winning a pair of national honours.
Finishing second in the nation for the second-straight year, the Huskies women won three medals en route to putting up a team total of 42 points.
In just her third trip to nationals
Alexandra Schell claimed her third consecutive national title with a win in the 48 kg class, winning all four of her matches in convincing fashion over the weekend.
Berit Johnson (72 kg) and
Maddison Haney (82 kg) both finished with silver medals to round out the Huskie medallists. For Johnson, it was a second-straight silver medal.
Daniel Olver was named the U SPORTS Women's Coach of the Year for his efforts in guiding the women's team to second place.
The Huskie men also claimed three gold medals, guiding them to 54 points and a second-place finish, their best at nationals since 2005.
Logan Sloan dominated the 54 kg class for his second-straight national title.
Carson Lee continued his outstanding freshman campaign with a gold medal and the honour of being named the U SPORTS Male Rookie of the Year. Rounding out the gold medal winners was
Hunter Lee who improved upon his silver medal from the year prior with four wins on the weekend.
