SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's hockey team will return to the postseason for the 12th consecutive season when they welcome the Mount Royal Cougars to Merlis Belsher Place in Canada West quarter-final action.
Â
The Huskies enter the playoffs fresh off an impressive 2-1 victory over the defending Canada West and national champion Manitoba Bisons.
Morgan Willoughby's first goal of the season stood as the game-winner, to help the Huskies conclude their regular season on a high note. Saskatchewan will be looking to qualify for their second consecutive U SPORTS National Championship tournament.
Â
The Cougars, who enter the postseason as winners of three consecutive games, will be looking to set program history this weekend. Mount Royal, who joined Canada West women's hockey in the 2012-13 campaign, has never won a playoff game after being swept in the playoffs the previous two seasons.
Â
The Huskies and Cougars split each of their series this season, with Saskatchewan dropping a 3-2 loss on Nov. 16, before bouncing back on Nov. 17 with a 1-0 win in which
Chloe Smith scored the games lone goal. The teams are quite familiar with one another with their last meeting taking place in Calgary on Feb. 1 & 2, with the Huskies stealing a 4-3 win on the road, before falling short in the second night of the back-to-back in a 6-1 defeat.
Â

Â
4: Fans under the age of 18 will receive a complimentary ticket to the game on Friday night.
Â
5: Saskatchewan's penalty kill has been dominant at home this season, as they finished the regular season killing all but three of 43 powerplays, equalling a 93.0% clip.

Â
Breanne Trotter is in the midst of a four-game point streak, with four goals and two assists during that stretch. The first-year forward had six points in four games against Saskatchewan this season.
Â
Second-year forward Tatum Amy had a breakout season with 17 points in 28 games, including a pair of assists in the Cougars 6-2 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns in the team's final regular season game.

The second-year netminder finished 2-1-0-0 against Saskatchewan this season, with a 1-0 defeat on Nov. 19 coming as her lone loss against the Huskies season.
