SASKATOON – An experienced Huskies women's volleyball roster that is riding high after a season-opening sweep is set to play their first action of 2019-20 in the PAC this weekend.
After dropping just one set en route to wins of 3-1 and 3-0 over the Calgary Dinos, the Huskies will play host to the reigning national champion UBC Thunderbirds on Friday night at 6 p.m., before turning around and playing again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Both of those games, and all the action this season, can be watched live on
canadawest.tv.
Ranked 9th in the
Canada West pre-season coaches poll, the Huskies will be looking for their second upset in as many weekends after taking down the No. 5 Dinos and now paying the No. 4 Thunderbirds.
The team has a definite local flair to it with 12 of 18 members hailing from across the Province.
After narrowly missing out on a playoff spot last season the Huskies will be looking to replace the production and leadership of three fifth-year athletes:
Georgia Hurry,
Alexandra Frank and
Regan Wiebe, all of whom graduated from the program at the end of last season.
