SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's volleyball team will get back in action on Friday night following last weekend's bye, as they welcome the Manitoba Bisons to town.

The Huskies enter the matchup as winners of four of their previous five games and will look to continue to build on their winning ways as they enter the stretch run towards the playoffs. Saskatchewan currently sits in sixth place in the Canada West, as they look to return to the postseason, after narrowly missing out on the postseason in 2017-18.

The Bisons are nipping at their heels however, as they sit just two points behind the Huskies, which sets up a pivotal weekend in the standings. Manitoba is on a two-game winning streak of their own, following their sweep over UBC Okanagan this past weekend.

The Bisons hold a 34-24 record against the Huskies all-time and have won four of their past five games against Saskatchewan. The two teams split their series last season in Winnipeg, with the Huskies winning the second half of back-to-back on Dec. 2.

5 Things

1: After finishing one spot out of the Canada West playoffs for two consecutive seasons, the Huskies are looking to qualify for the postseason for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

2: Manitoba has not missed the postseason since 2013-14 and is currently clinging to the eighth and final spot, with Winnipeg two points back of their cross-town rivals.

3: The Huskies have a 6-2 record against teams with a losing record this season and will take on the 6-8 Bisons this weekend.

4: Manitoba is 2-4 on the road this season but hold an 8-2 record in Saskatoon since 2009.

5: The Bisons sit in 11th place out of 12 in the Canada West in team hitting percentage and service aces per set.
