SASKATOON ­– Riding high on a wave of momentum from their season-opening 42-0 victory over the Alberta Golden Bears, the University of Saskatchewan Huskie football team will travel to Winnipeg to take on the Manitoba Bisons on Sept. 7. 

Ranked No. 10 in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 poll, the 1-0 Huskies will do battle with a Manitoba team that is coming off of a close 30-20 defeat at the hands of the No. 6 UBC Thunderbirds.

1) With their victory over the Golden Bears last week, the Huskies jumped to No. 10 in the U SPORTS Top 10.

2) This will be the Huskies first road game of the season, they were 1-3 on the road last year.

3) Nelson Lokombo was named the CW defensive player of the week for his two interception performance against Alberta.

4) Daniel Perry was named the CW special teams player of the week for his 139 yards on nine punt returns.

5) Sean Stenger took over the Huskie record for all-time career points last weekend. He has now scored 254 points.

Scouting the Bisons
 
Manitoba's offence was potent in their season-opening loss at the hands of UBC. Despite scoring just 20 points, the Bisons put up 499 yards of total offence.
 
Much of that offence was put up by third-year quarter back Des Catellier who record­ed 378 yards through the air.
 
The Bisons were picked fourth in the Canada West pre-season coaches' poll and hung tough with the No. 1 ranked UBC T-Birds last weekend.
 
The Bisons return 10 starters on offence from last season.
