PREVIEW: Huskie home-opener sees prestigious Bateman Cup on the line

SASKATOON - After a hard-fought split on the road to start the season, the University of Saskatchewan Huskie men's soccer team will return to the friendly confines of Field 7 in Nutrien Park this weekend, where they will host both the Alberta Golden Bears and the MacEwan Griffins.

1) The winner of the game against Alberta will claim the prestigious Bateman Cup.
2) At halftime of the MacEwan game there will be a ceremony honouring past Huskies' goalies.
3) With six goals from their opening weekend, the Huskies lead the league in goals-scored.
4) Huskie alum and current member of the Vancouver Whitecaps, Brett Levis, will conduct the ceremonial coin-toss on Sunday.
5) The Huskies were an honourable mention in the first U SPORTS Top 10 poll of the year.

Scouting The Golden Bears
Alberta opened the Canada West season 1-0, defeating the MacEwan Griffins by a score of 2-0 on the road.
Noah Cunningham and Matthew Miki scored the goals for the Golden Bears.

On the flip-side of Alberta's season-opening win were the MacEwan Griffins. MacEwan failed to score a goal in their loss to the Golden Bears, however Everett Orgnero did record five shots in the contest.
