A total of nine Huskies will compete at the U SPORTS National Championship in Kingston, Ont. this coming weekend. On the women's side, the Huskies will be looking to improve upon their 7th place in the conference and 20th in the nation finish that they earned last year. For the men, they will be sending three athletes to compete as individuals after not sending any members of the team to nationals last year. Saskatchewan has had an outstanding run of positive results at the Cougar Trot, Sled Dog Open and Stewart Cup ahead of the meet in Kingston that will serve as both the Canada West Championship as well as the U SPORTS National Championship.Â

Playing for the Hardy Cup for the first time since 2009, the Huskies will travel to Calgary to take on the Dinos with a spot in the Mitchell Bowl on the line. Saskatchewan booked their place in Calgary with a 31-28 overtime victory over the UBC T-Birds in Vancouver and will be looking to pull off the upset over a Dinos team that went a perfect 8-0 in the regular season.

Ranked No. 5 in the nation, it will be a battle of two of the best teams in the country when the Huskies (3-1) take on the No. 9 Dinos (2-2) in Calgary. Saskatchewan was dominant in their home-openers last weekend, defeating the Fraser Valley Cascades by a combined total of 72 points.

The Huskies (3-1) enter the weekend ranked as the No. 8 team in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 poll. They will face a tough test against the reigning National Champion Calgary Dinos (4-0) on the Dinos home court. This will be the second time in the first three weeks of the season that the Huskies will play a team ranked in the top 6 in the nation on the road.
