SASKATOON – Two teams looking to climb their way up the Canada West women's volleyball standings will meet this weekend when the University of Saskatchewan Huskies welcome the UBC Okanagan Heat to Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court inside the PAC.
The games will both get underway earlier than usual, with scheduled start times of 1:00 p.m.
Saskatchewan and UBCOÂ are currently tied for 12th in the conference with identical records of 2-8 so far this season. In what will be their final action of 2018, this weekend will be crucial as both the Huskies and the heat try to end the first half of the season on a positive note that will springboard them into 2019.
Â
A tough weekend in Vancouver saw the Huskies swept by UBC in their last action, while the Heat won their second game of the season in a split at home with the Brandon Bobcats.
Five Things
Â
1: The game on Saturday will be a Parent / Alumni appreciation game, with a special section set up above the video board on the concourse.
2: Both of these teams enter the weekend with identical sets won and lost records of 11 and 26.
3: This will be only the second weekend of the season so far where the Huskies play a team outside the top five in the Canada West standings.
4: Saskatchewan will be trying to reverse a recent trend that has seen UBCO win the last ten games between the two programs.
5: In partnership with CJWW, Huskie Athletics will be collecting unwrapped toys for donation at both games this weekend.
