CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos completed a two-game sweep of the Saskatchewan Huskies with a 107-89 victory on home court Saturday night.
After a tight 24-21 first quarter in favour of Calgary, the Dinos got some breathing room in the second quarter increasing their lead 52–37 at the half. In the third quarter, the Dinos continued to pile on to their lead, scoring 32 points in the stanza.
The Huskies made a push to come back in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough as the Dinos improved to 6-0 while the Huskies fall to 3-3.
Mambi Diawara led the way for the Dinos scoring 28 points off of 8-of-15 shooting, including a massive dunk in the first half.
David Kapinga was a warrior tonight, finishing one rebound and two assists shy of a triple-double. He scored 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
Lars Schlueter had a productive night scoring 15 points and eight rebounds. Also, Max Eisele had 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Lucas Mannes scored 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
As a team, the Dinos shot 50 per cent from the field and reached over 100 points for the second time this season.
Lawrence Moore had a big night for the Huskies scoring 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, three of those from beyond the arc.
Maxwell Amoafo wasn't far behind him scoring 16 points and seven rebounds.
Saskatchewan is back in action next weekend for a pair of games on the road against the Winnipeg Wesmen.
