University of Saskatchewan Huskie Emmett Tims is one step closer to playing professional football after hearing his name called during the 2016 CFL Draft on Tuesday night.
The Montreal Alouettes selected the defensive lineman and long snapper 50th overall in the sixth round of the draft making him one of 15 Canada West players selected on the night.

Tims recorded 7.5 tackles, two for a loss, and a sack in six games during the 2015 season. The 6-5 product from Calgary was a vital piece of the Huskie special teams unit serving as the long snapper.
Tims becomes the 55th Huskie selected in the CFL Draft since 1985. The Business student is the seventh Huskie ever drafted by the Alouettes and is the first to head to Montreal since defensive end Ivan Brown in 2009.
Tims will report to CFL camp at the end of May. The CFL preseason begins June 8 with the Alouettes visiting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. For more information on the CFL Draft visit www.cfl.ca.
