Huskie Athlete of the Week (March 20, 2018):

University of Saskatchewan captain Kaitlin Willoughby was named a tournament all-star at the U SPORTS Women''s Hockey Championship on the weekend.

The fifth-year forward from Prince Albert, Sask., was the focus opponents defence in all three games at the championship. Willoughby scored the team''s first goal unassisted in a 3-2 quarter-final win over the Saint Mary''s Huskies.

Willoughby and the Huskies finished fourth at the championship.

Huskie Athlete of hte Week (March 5, 2018):

University of Saskatchewan captain Kaitlin Willoughby scored two goals in the Canada West Final on the weekend.

The fifth-year forward from Prince Albert, SK pulled the Huskies within one goal in deciding Game 2 scoring at 15:15 in the second period and again at 1:19 in the second period.

The Huskies advance to the U SPORTS Championship March 15-18 in London, Ont., as Canada West Finalists. Seeding and schedule will be available March 11.

Huskie Athlete of the Week (February 20, 2017):

Fourth-year University of Saskatchewan forward Kaitlin Willoughby helped the Huskies to a sweep of the provincial rival the University of Regina Cougars scoring four goals in the Canada West best-of-three women’s hockey quarter-final. 

The Arts & Science student from Prince Albert, Sask., netted a hat trick in the 4-3 Game 1 victory on Friday night. Willoughby scored at 48 seconds and 7:32 in the second period, as well as 6:52 in the third for the hat trick. A night later in a 2-1 win, Willoughby scored the game-winner at 16:25 in the third.

The Huskies will now face the UBC Thunderbirds in a semifinal series in Vancouver.  Saskatchewan is the only team to defeat the T-Birds twice in the 2016-17 regular season. 

Huskie Athlete of the Week (January 23, 2017):

Fourth-year forward Kaitlin Willoughby helped the Huskies to a three-point weekend against the No. 1 ranked UBC Thunderbirds 

The Arts & Science student from Prince Albert, Sask., tallied an assist on the Huskies’ lone goal in a 2-1 double overtime loss on Friday. She also recorded seven shots in the game. A night later in a 5-4 overtime win, Willoughby scored the game-winner just nine seconds into the five-minute extra frame.

The Huskies are one of three teams to defeat the No. 1 ranked T-Birds in 2016-17 women’s hockey and the only team to do it twice. 

The Huskies will now face provincial foe the Regina Cougars in a home- and-home series next weekend. Saskatchewan will visit Regina on Friday, with the Cougars paying a return visit to Saskatoon on Saturday.
