Starting in June 2017, Jason Reindl was named the fourth head coach in the program’s modern era, and the first full-time coach in the program’s history.
Since taking the helm, Reindl has won seven Canada West track & field titles, including a Canada West record six-straight women's banners. The women have finishes of fifth (2018), second (2019) third (2020), second (2022), third (2023), and fourth (2024) at the national championships while the men also finished third in 2020.
In 2018, he was named Canada West female track & field coach of the year and later that year won the Colb McEwon Trophy as Huskie Athletics coach of the year. In 2019, Reindl was named Canada West male and female track & field coach of the year after both teams swept the championship, a first for the Huskies since the 2003-2004 season. In 2024, he added a sixth-straight Canada West female track & field coach of the year award.
The cross country program has also been revitalized under Reindl, with four consecutive women's team third place finishes at Canada West starting in 2019 and fifth (2021) and seventh (2019) place U SPORTS finishes, the best marks for the program since 2011.
Reindl has been a chartered professional coach since 2008 and previously worked as the high performance coach with Athletics New Brunswick, head coach of the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds cross country and track & field teams, and club coach with the Saint John Track Club. In 2017 with the Varsity Reds, Reindl was named the Atlantic University Sport men’s track & field coach of the year.
Reindl has coached with the Canadian national team on seven occasions. In 2017, he was the sprint, hurdle and relays coach at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan and took on the same role at the 2018 IAAF World Junior Championships in Tampere, Finland. In 2019 he was the head coach for the Canadian national team at the U20 Pan American Games in San Jose, Costa Rica followed by Head Coach roles for Canada at the 2021 (Nairobi, Kenya) and 2022 (Cali, Colombia) World U20 Championships. In 2022, he was also the Sprint and Hurdles Coach at the NACAC Senior in Freeport, Bahamas. In 2024, Reindl was named Sprint, Hurdle, and Relay coach for Canada at the 2024 World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Kinesiology and Huskies’ track & field program, Reindl holds a master’s degree and a graduate certificate in High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership from the University of British Columbia. He is a graduate of the NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma program from the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific. He is NCCP High Performance Certified, Performance Coach certified in Sprints/Hurdles and Endurance, as well as holding an IAAF Level 5 Elite Coach Diploma with Distinction in Sprints, Hurdles and Relays. Reindl is also a coach developer acting as a learning facilitator, coach evaluator, and master coach developer within the NCCP for Athletics Canada and Saskatchewan Athletics. Reindl is also an active board member for the Coaching Association of Canada, acting as the High Performance Coach representative.
