HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING IN AN ELITE ENVIRONMENT

WHO WE ARE

Vision

To facilitate a hockey development plan that allows high performance training in an elite environment.

The Huskie Prospects have been developed to formulate a sound foundation of hockey development in the province of Saskatchewan.

This development model will include an opportunity for:

Support for Huskie Prospect Coaches
Fitness assessment and individual development and consultation
Nutritional and dietary advise
Sport Science delivery focusing on injury prevention and rehabilitation
Sports Psychologists delivery of all aspects of peak performance
Specialist training in goaltending

OBJECTIVES

To create a structured program for "Elite Hockey" that is consistent and provides direction, monitoring and ongoing evaluation supported by the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Hockey Teams.
Identify, recruit, appoint and develop Huskie Prospect Coaches.
Develop an annual comprehensive detailed and challenging training program which encompasses the fundamental aspects of individual and team play.
Provide specialist support (if needed) to players and coaches.

Develop a sense of pride within the program. No short cuts. We need to create an environment in which talent can flourish and players learn to appreciate and develop a commitment to their teammates and th program.

The team should always come first.

Create an ownership in the program by giving players a reason why they should achieve their goals. Unless we can give players a reason why they should be involved they will never be motivated. We need to build a support group to encourage success. Make a commitment individually and collectively to teamwork and goals. We must continually challenge the players by asking them , "How good can you really be?"

Accountability throughout the program. If you are going to have a good program WE must establish rules for all levels of the program.

Focus on the process and improvement and not always on the results. Sometimes we must take a step backwards in order to move two steps forward. Winning is essential but not at the expense of future development and program decline.

Raise our standards by "Striving for Excellence". This means always giving 100% effort and never take the easy way. Having this type of commitment does not necessarily guarantee success but the determination to do your best will definitely improve our program and develop into a habit. We must be prepared to pay the price if you expect to win. Make a commitment to winning.
