VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Saskatchewan Huskies cross country teams turned in another encouraging performance Saturday at the UBC Farm Fest, competing against many of the top programs and athletes from around the conference.
The Huskie men were led by veteran
Jayvin Crosschild, who paced Saskatchewan in the 8-kilometre race with a 16th-place finish in a time of 26:18. Crosschild was the first Huskie across the line in a deep 68-runner field and helped anchor another solid team effort.
Close behind was
Preston Dodge, who placed 20th overall in 26:27, while
Bennett Friesen crossed the finish line 22nd in 26:32. Saskatchewan continued to showcase its depth with
Colin Stock finishing 26th in 26:39 and
Jacob White taking 29th in 26:42 to round out the Huskies' top five scorers.
The tight grouping of Saskatchewan runners was again a positive sign, with the Huskies placing five athletes within a 24-second span.
Troy Campbell added a 35th-place finish, while
Justin Schuler was 38th to complete the Huskies' top seven.
The men's race featured a highly competitive field led by athletes from UBC, Regina Cougars, Victoria Vikes, and Calgary Dinos, providing the Huskies with another valuable test as championship season approaches.
On the women's side, the Huskies were once again led by
Angelina Beveridge-Warick, who continued her strong season with a 13th-place finish in the 8-kilometre race, crossing the line in 30:28. Teammate
Nathalie Toledo was close behind in 14th place with a time of 30:43, giving Saskatchewan a pair of runners inside the top 15.
Morgan Tiede finished 30th overall in 31:31, while
Kyra Shelton placed 31st in 31:37.
Eryn Kielo rounded out the Huskies' top five scorers in 35th place with a time of 31:54.
Additional scoring depth came from
Petra Tymko (36th),
Brooklyn Roney (37th),
Madelyn Kaban (39th), and
Skylar Dyck (40th) as Saskatchewan continued to demonstrate the depth that has become a hallmark of the program this season.
The meet served as an important preview of the competition Saskatchewan will face later this month and offered another opportunity for the Huskies to sharpen their race plans before the conference championships. With both squads gaining valuable experience against many of their Canada West rivals, the Huskies leave Vancouver with momentum as they prepare for championship racing in the weeks ahead.
Saskatchewan will now turn its attention toward the 2026 Canada West Championships, set to take place in Calgary on October 31st.
