REGINA, Sask. - Following a 3-0 shutout performance at home Friday night the University of Saskatchewan Huskies doubled down against the Regina Cougars, recording a second consecutive shutout Saturday night (Dec. 6) to defeat their provincial rivals 1-0. Led by a 32-save performance from Colby Wilson, the victory marks the first time the Huskies have shutout Regina in a weekend series since November 2013, when the Dogs earned 4-0 and 1-0 victories.

The result also sees the Huskies record improve to 8-6-2 at the midway point of the 2025-26 season and stretch their lead over the Cougars in the Canada West East Division standings to five points. Saskatchewan currently holds the third and final playoff position int he division, trailing the Calgary Dinos by seven points and division-leading MRU Cougars by 11.

After a scoreless first period, it took another 15 minutes of action for the Huskies to break the tie. After Bronwyn Boucher took a long distance shot from the left face off circle, Regina goaltender Amy Swayze kicked the puck out to the middle of the ice where a wide open Paris Oleksyn was waiting. Oleksyn quickly fired the puck back at the netminder, beating her glove-side for her second of the season.

Despite being out-shot 15-8 in the final frame, and 32-29 overall, Colby Wilson stood tall between the pipes for Saskatchewan, ultimately earning her second shutout of the campaign. Wilson also earned the 22nd win of her career and moves into a tie for 6th-place in program wins by a goaltender, drawing even with former Huskie erin McKay.

The Huskies will now head to the Christmas break before returning to action on January 9, 2026 for the first of a four-game home stand against the Manitoba Bisons and MRU Cougars.
