EDMONTON – For the second night in a row the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's hockey battled hard and were in it until the very end but came up just short, as they fell 3-2 to the Alberta Pandas at Clare Drake Arena.
 
Alex Poznikoff netted one goal for the Pandas, while Autumn MacDougall found the back of the net twice on the power-play. For the Huskies, both Abby Shirley and Bailee Bourassa were able to get on the board in the close one goal loss.
 
The Huskies were able to strike first when Shirley's shot from just below the faceoff dot beat Kirsten Chamberlin short side, giving Shirley her fourth goal of the season.
 
In the second, Poznikoff was able to find the back of the net first for the Pandas after being sprung on a breakaway and beating Camryn Drever blocker side, bringing her conference-leading point total to 23.
 
One minute and 12 seconds later, MacDougall took advantage on the power-play, beating Drever in close, allowing the Pandas to take their first lead of the game.
 
Before the period was over Bourassa was able to tie the game at two with a power-play goal that tipped off a Pandas defender.
 
MacDougall added her second power-play goal of the game with just over four minutes left to play in the third when she walked out from below the goal line and found the back of the net. Her tally proved to be the game winner.
 
Next weekend the Pandas will host the Mount Royal Cougars Friday night at Clare Drake Arena with puck drop at 7:00p.m., before traveling south to the Cougars den on Saturday night.
 
Meanwhile, the Huskies will return home to host the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
