Men's hockey uses four unanswered goals to top Calgary Dinos

SASKATOON – The No. 3 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies used four unanswered goals to defeat the University of Calgary Dinos 4-1 Friday night in Rutherford Rink.

Three goals were exchanged in the first four minutes of the second period after no scoring in the first 20 minutes of the game. Calgary tallied 2:41 into the frame, followed by the Huskies at 3:09 and 4:22. Saskatchewan added two more goals in the early parts of the third period to seal the win. 

With the win, the Huskies improve to 17-3-1 while Calgary drops to 6-12-3. 

Calgary opened the scoring at 2:41 when Mitch Cook was able to get a rebound by Jordon Cooke

The Huskies answered at 3:09 when Jordan Tkatch fed Carson Stadnyk in front of the Calgary net for the goal. Alex Forsberg gave the Huskies' the lead just over a minute later on his quick shot that beat Calgary net-minder Jordan Papirny glove side at 4:22.

Levi Cable gave Saskatchewan a two-goal lead scoring on a short-handed breakaway just 1:54 into the third. Cable added his second of the game on the power play when he found a loose puck after a MacKenzie Johnston shot from the point bounced off the crossbar at 4:43. 

Cooke finished the game making 37 saves, while Papirny stopped 38 in the loss for the Dinos. 

The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Rutherford Rink. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
