SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies wrapped up the 2017-18 Canada West women's soccer regular season with a 3-1 victory over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Sunday afternoon on Field 7 in PotashCorp Park.

With the win, the Huskies secure second place in Prairie Division with a 7-3-4 record. They will host a Canada West Play-In Single Elimination Match on Friday, October 27 at 11 a.m. between Pacific #3 (UBC Thunderbirds) and Prairie #6 (Manitoba Bisons). Saskatchewan will play the winner of that match on Sunday, October 29 at 12 P.M. Weather permitting, both matches will be played at Field 7 in PotashCorp Park.

Winnipeg finishes the season 1-9-4.

Fifth-year Leesa Eggum opened the scoring early. Eggum buried a loose ball inside the box just three minutes into the match, taking advantage of Taneil Gay's beautiful cross pass. Just two minutes later, the Huskies struck again. This time it was Gay retrieving her own rebound off of Wesmen keeper Madison Fordyce, and burying it home on the second chance.

Third-year Brynn Bowles would grab her first of the year in the 26th minute. Bowles put away a well-placed corner kick from fifth-year Jessica Bradford.

The Wesmen would break the Huskie clean sheet in the 57th minute. Tyler Johnson took a pass from Shae-Lynn Dodds and snuck it past Huskie keeper Lisa Evans to make it 3-1.

Kyleigh Vause and Evans split goalkeeping responsibilities for the Huskies, making a combined two saves. Fordyce and Emma Dutiaume also split time and stopped 10 of 13 shots for Wesmen. Fordyce was forced to leave the game in the 75th minute with an injury.
