Lethbridge – Coming off a four point weekend a week ago, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team couldn't keep the momentum going, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Saskatchewan Huskies. 

The loss drops the 'Horns record to 1-3-1 on the season, while the Huskies improve to 4-1-0.

Aislinn Kooistra and Jodi Gentile scored for the Pronghorns, while the Huskies got goals from Courtney Cormack, Kaitlin Willoughby, Kori Herner and Shyan Elias. 

Just past the five minute mark, the 'Horns opened the scoring. Jenae Culp found Aislinn Kooistra in the left faceoff circle and she beat Huskie netminder Jasey Rae Book short side.

Looking to even the score, the Huskies had an extended five-on-three power play but were not able to capitalize with the two player advantage.

Before the period was out however, the Huskies would tie the game at one. Bailee Bourassa intercepted an errant Pronghorn pass and raced away on the breakaway. CIS female athlete of the week Alicia Anderson was able to stonewall her but Cormack jumped on a juicy rebound to score her first of the season. 

The Huskies held a distinct advantage on the shot clock at the end of the first period, outshooting the 'Horns 19-4 thanks to three power plays.

Huskie Kaitlin Willoughby walked off the half wall and beat Anderson short side off the post and in to give her team their first lead of the game, one they would not relinquish.

Only three minutes later, the Huskies doubled their lead. Kori Herner intercepted a pass at the Huskie blueline and was off to the races on a breakaway and made no mistake beating Anderson high glove. 

Following their first power play of the night, the 'Horns cut the lead back to one before the second period was out. Jodi Gentile's seeing eye shot from the point eluded a screened Book.

Shots again heavily favored the Huskies through two periods, outshooting the 'Horns 17-8 in the second for a 36-11 advantage after two. 

The Huskie forecheck was relentless all night, causing turnovers and creating power plays and were finally rewarded with a power play marker on their fifth advantage of the night. Shyan Elias batted a puck out of mid-air to regain the two goal lead.

Despite holding the Huskies shot total down in the third, the 'Horns were unable to generate enough offense to get themselves back in the game. 

A week after making an astonishing 117 saves in two games last weekend, Anderson finished the night with 43 saves, while Book turned aside 14 shots in the win.

The 'Huskies finished the night 1-for-7 on the power play, while the 'Horns went scoreless on two chances. 

The 'Horns and Huskies will conclude their weekend set tomorrow night, puck drops at 7:00pm at Nicholas Sheran Arena. The game will also be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.
