Manson Scores Twice in 3-2 Win

Box Score

Meagan Manson scored a pair of goals to lead the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to 3-2 win over the visiting Winnipeg Wesmen Sunday afternoon.

Manson notched her first two goals of the season in the 26th and 78th minutes to help the Huskies improve to 2-0 in the young Canada West season. Winnipeg drops to 1-3 with the loss.

The fourth-year defender opened the scoring in the 26th minute after Erica Hindmarsh sent a corner kick towards the back post. Manson collected the ball after it took a short bounce and shot it just under the cross bar.

Winnipeg got on the board just minutes into the second. Danielle Bulloch sent a free kick around the Huskie wall into the bottom right corner of the net in the 50th minute to tie the match at one.

Saskatchewan regained the lead in the 71st minute when Rebecca Weckworth sent the ball into the box for Kelly Cerkowniak. Cerkowniak made no mistake in scoring her third goal of the season to make it 2-1.

Manson scored her second of the match in the 78th minute finishing off a nice pass from Jennifer Miller. The goal would stand up as the game winner.

The Wesmen would add another goal in the 82nd minute, again coming off the foot of Bulloch, to cut the deficit to one.
